A late resolution
There's always a bit of magic about the beginning of February, I'm not sure if it’s the relief of getting through those first few weeks of the year, where everybody begrudgingly refinds their routine or the utter joy of an Irish Bank Holiday in the first week of February (A Monday off? For me? Why thank you!)
2024 was such a happy year for me. I think of the school, library visits and festivals and wonder how it all went by so very quickly! For 2025 I’m trying a different tack and although I’m not one for resolutions, I do want to take back some ownership of what I get to put out into the online world. Social media has had a such a fall from grace, and I wonder how much it truly helps with author and book PR. I have left Twitter (toxic), Facebook (not much interaction) and Threads (which I’d barely joined). This year I’m going to try posting what I know to be true for me on my website as a way of taking steps to have more control about what I share online and where it goes without big brother bothering.
In a not entirely unexpected turn of events I won’t be at many writing get-togethers this year – another reason to get my act together online. The plan is to blog about writing (ugh, I know, another writer their spilling thoughts, I’m sorry!) but hopefully I can write about the creativity and inspiration that works for me to make writing happen. It will serve a useful tool to remind me that the writing cycles of feeling This is terrible versus This might be okay are only cycles, and being both creative and disciplined in my process will ultimately keep me productive. (Sounds good, huh).
I must figure out how to add a subscription link, so bear with me while I learn as I go.
Finally, if you do take the time to read my blog (and thanks again), please can I remind you to carry a donor card and please discuss your wishes with your loved ones - we never know when we might need a donor!

January review
Favourite watch: A few good men (I had never seen it!) That Demi Moore will go far.
Favourite read: Conclave by Thomas Harris on my sister’s recommendation. Beautiful, pacey and incredible characters.
Favourite listen: Radio 1’s Workout anthems with Maia Beth on BBC Sounds. Every week a new hour of workout music is released and it has gotten me and the dog through many damp and chilly walks/runs. Super motivating!
Favourite eats: last of the Christmas cheese with this gorgeous black garlic honey
